presents The Shape of Things to Come a new quarterly compilation
available exclusively as a digital-download from iTunes, E-Music,
Rhapsody/Real Networks, Napster, and others.
This compilation includes mostly 100% exclusive unreleased tracks
from Ubiquity acts and a handful of recent releases previously
only available on vinyl (see key below.) The Shape of Things to
Come will be the exclusive outlet for remixes and edits and will
highlight upcoming releases, especially from artists new to our
roster.
Ubiquity believes strongly in the preservation of vinyl culture,
so no entire 12” singles will be available for download
anywhere, The Shape of Things to Come will be the only place you
will find non-album tracks previously released on 12”.

1. Nino Moschella “Are You For Real”
29 year old Nino Moschella has a voice that is gritty, soulful,
honest, and unique. Imagine our surprise when we learned that
these golden tones belonged to a rough n’tumble Irish-Italian-American
character from around the way. “Are You For Real”
is first track from his debut album due in 2006, and he plays
every instrument on it, in addition to writing and singing the
lyrics*
2. PPP “Stay With Me” (Grooveman
Spot Remix)
PPP smashed current r&b standards with their
debut “Triple P” album. This 12” vinyl-only
mix was released exclusively in Japan and features the awesome
Tiombe Lockhart on vocals.**
3. Owusu and Hannibal “What It’s About”
The new Danish modern sound belongs to Owusu and Hannibal of Copenhagen.
The pair is set to take 2006 by storm with an amazing album of
unique soul productions. “What It’s About” is
from their forthcoming debut vinyl-only 12” single.*
4. Radio City “Prophets”
Brought to our attention by Quantic, Radio City hails from Berlin
and his sound ranges from slack dub, moody folksy-soul, to adrenalin
infused and spiritual cinematic jazz. “Prophets” is
an exclusive to this compilation.*
5. Greyboy featuring Elgin Park and Rodney Mathews “Help
Is On The Way”
Greyboy has been a Ubiquity artist longer than we can remember!
This cover of the Whatanauts soul-disco classic (as sampled by
De La Soul) is a reminder why. *
6. Breakestra featuring Chali 2Na, Soup, and Double K “Family
Rap” (This Is The Sound (radio edit)
Breakestra drop an essential party rap tune featuring members
of Jurassic Five and People Under The Stairs. This radio-friendly
edit was previously only available on 12” vinyl.**
7. John Arnold featuring Ty “Style and Pattern (Nuff Version)”
(Moonstarr remix/radio edit)
Detroit-based John Arnold teams up with London MC Ty and get remixed
by Toronto-based Moonstarr for a mad dance floor destroyer of
the highest order.**
8. Shawn Lee "La Ballade De Mela"
Shawn Lee has been making waves with tracks from his Ping Pong
Orchestra for a couple of years now. This brand new exclusive
cut will please fans of everything from Air to David Axelrod.*
9. Darondo "Let My People Go"
Old-school Bay Area soul singer Darondo has maintained an underground
status until now. He will be featured on the Gilles Peterson Digs
America compilation, before Ubiquity releases a 9-track Darondo
album including 3 previously unreleased tracks. **
10. Breakestra "How Do You Really Feel" (Cut Chemist
Atkins Edit)
Sounding very CTI mid-1970s Breakestra team up with Cut Chemist
to drop a break beat driven film-score-like joint, previously
only available on 12” vinyl.**
11. PPP "Fever" (DJ Spinna BK Banger
mix)
“Fever” features Detroit vocalist Zeno on this previously
12”-only DJ Spinna remix The original version of this summertime
soul jam can be found on the globally acclaimed “Triple
P” album.**
12. Ohmega Watts "That Sound" (Quantic Soul Orchestra
mix)
Formerly only available on 12” vinyl this track features
Ohmega next to up n’coming West Coast act the Procussions
on the mics and Noelle from The Rebirth on the catchy hook. “That
Sound” is a bouncy party track that’s reminiscent
of TCQ, the Heiroglyphics, or Leaders of the New School. The Quantic
Soul Orchestra add super tasty DJ pressure with guitar licks and
Hammond organ.
