THE CONCEPT OF THE REWIND! COMPILATION SERIES IS SIMPLE
– our favorite artists cover their favorite tracks, revealing
their influences and bringing classic tunes bang up to date. Rewind!
has become our best selling series and Volume 4 should blow your
roof off!
Just as with volume 3 this collection is 100% cover versions made
from scratch (no remixes or re-edits) including 5 completely exclusive
tracks, 1 as yet unreleased, and 3 more previously unavailable
on CD until now. The eclectic line-up includes music by Sharon
Jones featuring legendary funkster Lee Fields, Nostalgia 77 featuring
Quantic vocalist Alice Russell, exclusive tracks from the highly
touted SA-RA Creative Partners and the Platinum Pied Pipers, Nicole
Kramer produced by Domu, and the first ever track produced by
in-demand UK remixers Yam Who?.
Opening with the funkiest rendition Woody Guthrie’s “This
Land is Your Land” (re-recorded at an apt time in American
history), there are also new versions of tracks originally penned
and performed by acts as varied as The White Stripes, Cameo, Sly
and The Family Stone, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell and the Fania
Allstars.
From the amazing stripped-down version of “Word Up!”
by UK artist Willis (679 records) to the dance floor-filling favorite
“Evil Vibrations” (the original was sampled by De
La Soul for “Saturday (the Rollerskating Song) and covered
here by Los Angeles-based The Rebirth) each Rewind! is compiled
to unfold like a perfect mix tape with a lil’ something
for everyone.
