Roy
Davis Jr w/ Terry Dexter 12”
“If You Wanna” b/w “I Know What
You’re Thinking” (Ubiquity 12”)
(incl. remixes by John Beltran and P’taah)
“If You Wanna’” is a
huge house tune featuring Terry Dexter (who has the voice of an
angel and the looks of a goddess.) Walker, a Detroit native moved
to LA, will feature heavily on Davis Jrs album, the two found
instant studio chemistry, as you’ll hear on “If You
Wanna.”
Roys mix is a full on dancefloor production complete with strings
and keys by Tomi (of Babyface fame). P’taah turns out a
1980s flavored re-rub - think NYC 80s club scene, The System and
D Train with a touch of Freeze - which perfectly complements Dexters
diva delivery. Also included is a harder dub mix a la Chicken
Lips, Swag etc...
On the flip is John Beltran in total Brazilian mode. His remix
of RDJr with Ayro “I Know What You’re Thinking”
is an uplifting summery experience definitely set to light-up
the sunny shores of Miami and the WMC.
*About Terry Dexter: Not to be confused with Julie Dexter or Terry
Walker! She’s worked with Eric Benet, and Jaheim, The Black
Eyed Peas and Raphael Saadiq.
Most recently Terry had her acting debut in Focus Features “Deliver
Us From Eva” playing the part of Natalie and performing
a stirring rendition of “Amazing Grace”.
