Ohmega
Watts 12”
#1 Chart Action By Mr Scruff of Ninja Tune
Fame (Charting ahead of the likes of Madvillain, Kayne West, etc)!!!
Also, receiving airplay on Gilles Peterson's 'Worldwide Radio
Show' on Radio 1/BBC!
"superb club wobbler + very original" -
Mr. Scruff
"Left coast label with the future sound of Portland, Oregon.
Flying out of the shops all over!"
- Jockey Slut (UK)
"Nice Cali hip hop! "Request" has some
great funky drum samplage, a really tight mover on beat rhymes
and soulful hook that reminds a lot of Jurassic 5, and even a
little bit of "Doowutchyalike"-era Digital Underground!"

With
a humble B-Boy swagger and original hip hop values Ohmega Watts
drops a soulful and DJ friendly solo 12” featuring his group
Lightheaded and Quannum Recording Artists The Lifesavas. “A
Request” is an uptempo J5 party-style hip-hop banger that
will rock dancefloors from coast to coast. While “Illuminate”
is a smoother buttery joint, and “Wind It Up” an instrumental
mid-tempo club cut…Most of the music on this 12” came
together in a live, random, spur of the moment session. Only a
serious North Western ice storm held back the creativity here…
While it may be the first solo outing as Ohmega Watts it’s
not the first thing he’s ever done. Producing since 1997
and MC’ing since 1993 his resume includes tracks produced
for Mars Ill on Ill Boogie, for Listener on Mush, plus he’s
recorded as Lightheaded for Day By Day Ent, and as Return To Sender
on the Piece of The Action compilation.
Prior to Portland he’s lived in Florida, but is originally
from Brooklyn, New York by way of Jamaican parents. His group
Lightheaded have two 12”s in the can including tracks with
9th Wonder of Little Brother and music released exclusively in
the UK and Japan.
