Greyboy
w/ Quantic feat. Sharon Jones 12" (UR12143)
”Grey's single is dope.” –
TRULY OdD, HEAVYWEIGHTS / FRIDAY NIGHT FLAVAS (POWER 106)
”The Paul Nice mix is the winner..."
– Z-TRIP
”It's dope, I like it a lot.” –
RHETTMATIC, BEAT JUNKIES (LOS ANGELES)
"Chunky good fun." – MR SCRUFF
"Normally, so many great talents on one track would
result in the spoiling of the broth but everyone involved doffs
their ingredients into the pot and no more, thus pulling off a
hot, grimy dancefloor grinder that only such a Transatlantic supergroup
might. Superb." - DADDY BONES, GRANDSLAM
"D-Styles and Ricci tear it up with those horn scratch
sequences. That’s some new shit! I love it. Then you got
Sharon Jones funkin’ it up, and Paul’s got the Nice
remix touch. All around winner." – EL DOPA,
URB
Teaming up with Daptone recording artist Sharon Jones Greyboy
creates a slice of modern funk dirty enough to please the connoisseurs
and persuasive enough to hype-up the DJs. Helping with co-production
is Quantic, Tru Thoughts hot recording artist out of Brighton
England. This is one of two tracks recorded with Jones for the
upcoming Greyboy album "Soul Mosaica". It's part old
school party jam, part new school soul.
Also included is an instrumental turntablist collaboration with
D-Styles and Ricci Rucker - two of the West Coast most sought
after beat manipulators.
Rounding out the single is a cleaner, punchier more DJ friendly
mix of "Gotta' Be Your Love" by Paul Nice, producer
and remixer to the likes of Guru, Biz Markie, AG, Beastie Boys,
Foreign Legion, Nightmares on Wax, etc. We've included the instrumental
version for good measure.
Watch
this space for USA and European tour dates in connection with
the\ release of the forthcoming full-length album "Soul Mosaic".
