King
Britt is surely one of Phillys finest producers/DJs and here he
comes through with an underwater dub mix of OThe TruthÝ using his
Scuba name. Britts formula for irresistible warm future funk, as
with most of his Scuba mixes, begins on the minimal side. ÞThe TruthÝ
remix builds to a more full-on sound as he adds elements of the
original, drum programming, and washes of keys. On the flip Alex
Attias re-engineers the original mix of ÞLike Sugar Like RainÝ into
a bruising club monster. In the style of fellow West London producers
Seiji/Opaque or Afronaught, Attias programs a ridiculously dirty
bass-line backed by some equally rude beats. Itðs straight to the
point, no noodle stuff, that will appeal to breakbeat, broken beat,
uptempo DJs and clubbers. ÞLike Sugar Like RainÝ was previously
the only beat-less track on the ÞLife MirrorsÝ album - a simple
mix of African percussion, keys, bass and the amazing vocals of
Colonel Red. Now it has beats, so hold-tight! |
