is legendary UK producer/DJ Kirk Degiorgio. His sound is the warmest
of techno infused with soul--inner city Detroit and London schooled
in classic jazz and future breaks. Building on his highly acclaimed
MoÝ Wax "Planetary Folklore" album, "21st Century
Soul" moves As One to the next level.
Kirk Degiorgio is one of the most sought-after mixers/producers
in todayÝs eclectic dance music scene. Steering away from musical
cliches and sticking to his soul-boy roots, he has managed to
maintain his musical integrity over 9 years and 5 albums. ô21st
Century Soul^ is the most complete As One album to date with 2
vocal tracks (featuring the rootsy Simon Jinardu), several club
bombs in diverse styles (breakbeat, new jazz, two step, and house),
and even some jazz and ambient music reflect a couple of years
work, development, and change for Kirk Degiorgio.
Currently using As One, New Religion, Elegy, Esoterik, Critical
Phase, Family Values, Super-A-Loof (with Jamie Odell), and The
Off World Ensemble as recording aliases Degiorgio is a busy man.
He just scored dance single of the week^ in the NME, MixMag, DJ,
and IDJ at time of writing! He has completed remixes for 4 Hero,
Beanfield, Azimuth, Tony Allen, and even the Newcleus electro
classic ôJam On Revenge.^ He hosts the Sunday night soulful future
music show ôR Solution^ on Kiss FM in London.
Back in 1992 Degiorgio recorded his first release on B12 Records.
Shortly after this debut he founded the ART label releasing early
material artists like Carl Craig, Aphex Twin, and The Black Dog.
DegiorgioÝs pioneering approach led to his first major release
in 1997 for the MoÝ Wax label, for whom he also remixed the Carl
Craig classic ôBugInTheBassBin^. His success as a composer of
soundtrack/advertising material (for Adidas, Fanta, Michelen,
and Microsoft) has given him the freedom to take other musical
experimentations to new heights. |
