Owusu
& Hannibal “Delirium” feat. Morgan Geist and Up
Hygh remixes b/w "What's It About" (Ubiquity 12”)
The new Danish modern sound belongs to Owusu and Hannibal of Copenhagen.
With Ghanian, Danish, German and American heritage the pair are
set to take 2006 by storm with an amazing album of unique soul
productions. The most forward thinking beats we've heard in a
long time power along some amazing musicianship and fantastic
songs. The end product sounds amazing on either iPod or in the
club. "Delirium" has already been getting serious nods
on CD-r, wait 'til you hear what else is in the bag. They've got
cosmic freak-outs, street smarts, electronic pop, and crossover
ballistics packed into each next level track. Think Moody Man
meets Steely Dan meets Scritti Polliti meets Dilla meets Jorge
Ben meets Spacek and you're getting kinda' close.

GREYBOY feat. RODNEY MATTHEWS
GREYBOY feat. RODNEY MATTHEWS (Ubiquity 12”)
This is a brand new tune from the forthcoming Greyboy album. It’s a top notch uplifting roller-skating-friendly funk track that’s as clubby as any Greyboy tune to date. While the mix is beefier than the original version, this is still a fairly faithful cover version of the track sampled by De La Soul. Greyboy worked with Elgin Park (Greyboy AllStars etc) and Rodney Mathews (Mighty Ryeders, the band behind “Evil Vibrations”) to dial this one in. Infact Mathews is featured on vocals, bass and drums!
As with the original version this is a 12” release with vocal on one side, and instrumental on the flip. “Help Is On The Way” was a big club hit in the early 1980s for the Whatanauts with a soulful and almost disco feel, and was released on Harlem International.
Greyboy has been working on his forthcoming album for the past year. In addition to guests Elgin Park and Rodney Mathews the album will include Ikey Owens of Mars Volta and Greyboy label mate Jeremy Ellis on keys and vocals. Watch for the album in 2006.
JOHN
ARNOLD FEAT. TY 12" "STYLE AND PATTERN" Release
Date: 8/23/05
John
Arnold feat. Ty "Style & Pattern" with Moonstarr
Remix (Ubiquity 12")
John
Arnold is back in a big way. First his “Rise Up” tune
on the HVW8 12” was a broken beat anthem for the summer
and now he returns with a storming club joint featuring Ninja
Tune's Ty on vocals (Crowned Best Artist at the second annual
UK Hip Hop Awards). Ty flexes his lyrical dexterity over frantic
beats and rude bass line. The resulting “Style and Pattern”
track is top drawer DJ ammunition and a great way to announce
the upcoming release of the 2nd album from John Arnold….it’s
also the title track from the new album, scheduled fro release
this Fall.
The 12” will feature an exclusive guest remix from Canadian-based
Moonstarr who has been lighting up dancefloors with rough n’ready
club music on Compost, Jazzanovas Sonar Kollektiv label and his
own PTR label.

AS ONE 12"
As One 12"
"Believer" (Harmonic 33 mix w/Danny Breaks)
b/w "Sanctified", "I Love You"
The new single from the UKs Kirk Degiorgio includes guest appearances from hot Chicago MC Diverse (Chocolate Industries) and Detroit Experiment/Black Mahogani vocalist Paul Randolph. This 12" also includes a remix from Warp Recording artist Harmonic 33 (aka Mark "Troubleman" Pritchard). Hip hop, Detroit soul, and rough broken beats all wrapped-up in one package!
The Harmonic 33 mixes (vocal and instrumental) of Believer are exclusive to this 12" (the original more radio friendly version is exclusive to the forthcoming album) and sees Mark Pritchard in top form with video game sounds, spacey moog and Detroit sounding synths. Harmonic 33 is Pritchards cinematic Hip Hop project recently signed by Warp Recordings. Pritchards mate Danny Breaks adds some serious cuts to the mix.
On the flip are two tunes highlighting the two extremes of the upcoming As One album. "Sanctified" is a bruising broken beat track that bounces along on a hard hitting rude bass line. "I Love You" is a tribute to and cover of a Weldon Irvine song. It begins very faithfully, like a sweet soul tune, but by the end has moved into deep As One territory with spacey keys and cinematic strings. Vocalist Paul Randolph has just released his debut on Kenny Dixon jr's Black Mahogani label and in addition to appearing on the Detroit Experiment album is a full-time member of Amp Fiddlers live act. This track has already seen airplay on cd-r on BBC Radio 1!
Marking a new start for UK producer Kirk Degiorgio these tracks are from the forthcoming "Out of The Darkness" album. This is Kirk in a groundbreaking new direction including bumpin' new hip hop and freaky soul tracks sitting pretty next to Kirks signature warm techy club sound, broken beats and ambient tunes. In addition to featured MCs include Atlanta-based Lacks and Chocolate Industries MC Diverse, plus soulful vocals courtesy of Detroit Experiment singer Paul Randolph, and UK-based vocalists Jinadu, and Cathy B

Artists: REWIND 3! 12 ” (Ubiquity 12”)
Rewind 3 is due January 04. This 12” features 3 exclusive mixes of tracks to be featured on the compilation – but these mixes will not be on the comp, only on this 12”.
Each artist has worked a new version of a classic tune, each done with respect for the past, and an eye on the future. Jeremy Ellis aka Ayro has given us a 14 + minute rendition of Herbie Hancocks “Chameleon”. It’s faithful to every nuance of the original – every drum hit, every bass note, every change-up is here, just with a contemporary polish. P’taah works with an undiscovered female vocalist on a gorgeous and dance-floor friendly broken beat version of “Baltimore Oriole” originally recorded by Lorez Alexandria. And from the UK Swag drop a hard edgy electro-fied version of Ryuichi Sakamoto’s underground classic “Riot In Lagos”.
Watch out for Rewind 3 with further exclusive covers (no remixes, all made from scratch!) from the likes of Greyboy, Antibalas, Louie Vega, Spiritual South, Damon Aaron, Breakestra, etc etc etc . . ."
JOHN ARNOLD 12"
JOHN ARNOLD 12"
2 new tracks from John Arnold both featuring the awesome vocals and keyboard work of Amp Fiddler (P-Funk All Stars and Genuine Records) *Includes 2 Exclusive Remixes from hot UK producers Spacek (Studio records) and SF house main man Joshua aka Iz
Two tracks in two different styles featuring the golden vocals of Detroits Amp Fiddler. "Get Yourself Together" is a minimal but soulful track that builds around a vocal hook and Amps amazing rhodes-work. Atmospherics are provided by chopped-up vocal snippets, disjointed house rhythms and a thumping bass line a la Theo Parrish or Pepe Braddock. Plus providing a funky uptempo remix with top notch San Francisco style house flavor is Joshua aka Iz (of Iz and Diz).
On the flip is "I Can Be", a percussion-heavy mid-tempo track featuring a fuller vocal from Amp. Future funk? Celestial Soul? Who knows . . . But Spacek deconstruct the track churning out a leftfield soul jam that jars, jumps and bumps it's way under Amps lyrics.
Over the past few years John Arnold has risen to public attention along with a new wave of Detroit producers and artists. His forthcoming "Neighborhood Science" album includes appearances from some of those peers like keyboard maestro and vocalist Amp Fiddler, vocalist and multi-talented musician Ayro and producer and vocalist Malik Alston. They just happen to be from around the 'hood, and helped shape the John Arnold sound on "Neighborhood Science," his debut album. Multi-layered soulful tracks retain an electronic edge that works on the dancefloor and nods to the influence of dons of the Detroit scene like Carl Craig, Kenny Larkin, and Derrick May. John Arnold performed at the inaugral and this years Detroit Electronic Music Festival, and is now signed to HiTech Soul for bookings/mngmnt.
