DON
CUNNINGHAM "SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE" '
- It's holy
grail time again at Luv N'Haight - less than 500 copies were originally
printed of this 1965 album which has long been at the top of collectors
wants list.
- First time on CD, features original liner notes and artwork,
plus the LP insert and CD booklet will include exclusive artist
pictures and interviews.
"Not only is it a rare album it is also a good one.
"Tabu" is the mother of all jazz dance records! A welcome
release!" - Producer / DJ Rainer Truby
Featuring
the often-sampled and highly sought after dancefloor classic "Taboo"
this album was recorded and sold only through the St Louis Playboy
Jazz Club in 1965. This is as rare as they get. Previously only
available on vinyl (only 500 were ever made on the appropriately
named Exclusive label) the original was highly sought after by
collectors.
While "Taboo" featured on a Luv N'Haight compilation
this is the first time the album has been re-issued as a whole
and on CD. Carefully re-mastered from original analog tapes the
swinging sounds of "Quiet Village" and "Samba De
Orfeu" prove that Cunningham was no one-trick pony.
Playing in the early 1960s line-up of the Johnny Mathis band gave
Cunningham chance to visit travel to the Carribean, Fiji, Australia,
and Hawaii. Having grown-up in the less-exotic city of St Louis,
MO Cunningham was inspired to take the new exciting sights and
sounds experienced on his travels into the studio. The result
is an album that has everything from lush moments of old school
easy-listening to jumpin' jazz with a Latin edge to sample-worthy
percussion breaks and samba flavored jams. . .guess that's why
he called the album "Something For Everyone." Full artwork
will include original liners, plus new images and artist interviews.
