"One
Street Over is a mind bending blend of various genres, including
funk, jungle, Middle Eastern, and others. And, while the pair borrows
liberally from various traditions, they interweave the pieces with
a style all their own. The standout cuts are "New Moon Mamba,"
which comes off like El Chicano on ecstasy, "Sons of Batra"
which is reminiscent of Bill Laswell's (semi) recent work with Material,
and the dub-flavored piece "The Process of Elevation,"
which breaks into a wicked drum and bass groove. One Street Over
is the perfect option for today's dancefloor junkie, because the
duo satisfies the dance fan's growing appetite for diversity."

"Better Daze are one of those so called dance acts who transcend
their given genre. They introduce confidence and maturity into an
arena better known for it's posturing and faddishness. Paul Scriver
and Andrew Jervis, the masterminds behind the Daze, melded resourceful
jazz instrumentation (even pulling out the Aboriginal didgeridoo
for a couple of tracks), subtle samples, and choice guest vocals
with smooth, Latin-influenced beats to make One Street Over. For
Remix Project, Ubiquity's hefty roster of studio wizards (Fila Brazilia,
Q-Burn's Abstract Message, Badmarsh, Swingsett and Wally, Bugs et
al) take on the daunting task of giving the elegant album a makeover.
The stirring continuity of the original is lost to the myriad of
musical personalities vying for space, but the result is gratifying.
For example, Golden Brown', Better Daze's send-up to The Stranglers,
sees three treatments - all three completely different, all three
compelling and faithful to the song in spirit. Highlights include
Swingsett and Wally's inventive eerie deconstruction of Son
of Batra', Q-Burns' nocturnal, uptempo adaptation of Modus
Operandi', Better Daze's own percolating touch up of I Dreamed
My Dentist Was Yusef Lateef', and Fila Brazilia's lilting, hypnotic
loop of Mitch Tobias' guitar work from Golden Brown'. Better
Daze act oblivious to passing trends and are more concerned with
where their music will be in five years than tomorrow. By drawing
on such a talented pool of remixers for this effort, they have ensured
their position among both the timely and the timeless."

"Absolutely brilliant!"
-GILES PETERSON, KISS FM LONDON
"Four stars! Andrew Jervis' and Paul Scriver's impressive One
Street Over LP gets the complete remix treatment from a host of
artists. With the wonderful Golden Brown' getting a mighty
three remixes from Fila Brazillia and Scribe. Blissful, ambient
and sexy they are too. The following deeply dubby grooves are exquisitive
with Q-Burn, Swingsett and Wally, Bugs and Thievery Corporation
all turning out with their considerable skills to make a top LP.
A late night trip."

"Q-Burn's Abstract Message, Fila Brazillia (twice) and the
excellent Thievery Corpoaration are the ones to keep your eyes on
as Better Daze give their One Street Over album the remix treatment.
Mention should also be made of the lesser known American remixers
such as Bugs and Scribe who offer up proof that America's take on
trip hop could be the wildest yet."
