ABOUT
HVW8:
Heavyweight
(HVW8) was formed in 1998 (Montreal), operating under the direction
of Tyler Gibney and Gene Pendon. Through it's painting and design
work, HVW8 pulls its inspiration equally from both art and music,
blurring the line between the two, and capturing the raw energy
and spontaneity coming from clubs, parties, musicians and DJ's.
HVW8's live-painting crew, the Heavyweight Art Installation, includes
artist Dan Buller (aka DSTRBO), and brings its collaborative visual
process before a live audience drawing its inspiration from music,
urban settings, and people to combine images with improvised painted
backgrounds, working the canvas much like the performance of a
composed music piece. The Heavyweight Art Installation has toured
and exhibited before audiences in Canada, Europe, US, Puerto Rico
and Japan, creating live art pieces alongside musicians such as
Jazzanova, Metro Area, Rich Medina, Osunlade, UFO, Roots Manuva
and Seiji to name a few over the past 6 years of touring. Stay
tuned for the upcoming Ubiquity HVW8 compilation in 2005. |
